La piazza del Repubblica a Monfalcone occupa l’area già adibita a piazza pubblica fin dai tempi di Venezia dopo l’abbattimento delle mura che circondavano Monfalcone nel 1838. Sull’attuale piazza si affacciano i più notevoli edifici della città, il più importante è sicuramente il Palazzo del Municipio eretto nel 1859 su progetto dell’architetto Perrucchetti. Inoltre è possibile ammirare un edificio a corte, la Casa Lonzar di impianto settecentesco  e il Palazzo dell’ex Pretura costruito nei primi decenni del XX secolo in stile neorinascimentale.

The Republic Square in Monfalcone occupies the area that was already used as a public square since the Venetian period, after the demolition of the walls that surrounded Monfalcone in 1838. The most notable buildings of the city overlook the current square. The most important is certainly the Town Hall building erected in 1859 on a project by architect Perrucchetti. It is also possible to admire a courtyard building, the Eighteenth-century Casa Lonzar and the building that once served as magistrate’s court, which was built in the early decades of the twentieth century in a neo-Renaissance style.
